Topeka, KS — Authorities have identified the eighth victim in a string of deadly shootings that have rocked the Topeka community in recent weeks. The Topeka Police Department confirmed on Monday that the latest victim is 32-year-old Marcus J. Reynolds, a local resident known to neighbors as a quiet and hardworking man.

The victim was discovered late Sunday night in the 1500 block of SE Fremont Street, where officers responded to reports of gunfire around 11:45 p.m. Upon arrival, police found Reynolds with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

This marks the eighth deadly shooting in the city in what authorities are calling a concerning spike in gun violence. Investigators are working to determine if the shootings are connected.

“We are dedicating all available resources to bring those responsible to justice,” said Police Chief Bryan Wheeles. “Our community deserves safety, and we will not rest until that is restored.”

No arrests have been made in connection to Reynolds’ death. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Topeka Police Department or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.

As the investigation continues, city leaders are planning a community meeting to address concerns and discuss violence prevention strategies.
