Gorton, who currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Montreal Canadiens, is reportedly spearheading negotiations to bring the 18-year-old phenom to North America ahead of the 2025-26 NHL season. Demidov, widely regarded as one of the most electrifying talents outside the NHL, has drawn comparisons to elite players like Artemi Panarin and Kirill Kaprizov for his offensive creativity, skating finesse, and elite puck-handling skills.
According to sources close to the organization, the $8.4 million request is structured as a multi-year financial plan covering not only the player’s entry-level contract (ELC) under NHL regulations but also incentives, relocation support, and high-level development resources intended to ease Demidov’s transition from the KHL to the NHL.
