Titans to Release Harold Landry III: A Major Roster Move

The Tennessee Titans have decided to release veteran pass rusher Harold Landry III, ending his six-year tenure with the team. This move comes after the Titans explored trade options but were unable to find a suitable partner.

Landry, a 2018 second-round pick, had been a cornerstone of the Titans’ defense, registering 50.5 sacks in his career. His breakout 2021 season saw him record 12 sacks, earning him a five-year, $87.5 million extension. However, a torn ACL sidelined him for the entire 2022 season. He bounced back in 2023 with 10.5 sacks and followed it up with a strong 2024 season, tallying nine sacks across 17 games

Releasing Landry is primarily a financial decision, as the Titans aim to restructure their roster under new head coach Brian Callahan. By designating him as a post-June 1 cut, the Titans can spread out his dead cap hit and gain significant salary cap relief

Landry is expected to draw interest from multiple teams in need of a proven edge rusher. His production, versatility, and ability to pressure quarterbacks make him a valuable asset in the free-agent market.
